- Macmillan Reeds Nautical Almanac 2004
pop
This is an annual compendium of navigational data for UK yachtsmen. This edition continues the Almanac's tradition of year-on-year improvement, expansion and presentation of all the data required for safe navigation. The coverage includes the entire European Atlantic area - the UK, Ireland and the European coastline from the tip of Denmark right down to Gibraltar and has four-colour port plans and illustrations throughout. The Royal Yachting Association use it as source information for training publications and courses, while the RNLI carry it as a standard publication aboard all-weather lifeboats. The Almanac provides the yachtsman with all the data required to navigate Atlantic waters. Divided into 25 areas it provides heavily illustrated and detailed harbour, marina, coastal and tidal information. With data gathered from many different sources, including its own network of over 200 local agents, the Almanac is rigorously checked and updated very year to ensure it is both safe and fully informative. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1904358144/boathook-21 (Added: Fri Nov 28 2003 Hits: 165 Rating: 0.00 Votes: 0)

Details - Taking on the World by Ellen MacArthur
In February 2001 24-year-old Ellen MacArthur completed the Vendee Globe, the world's toughest race. As the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe singlehanded and as the fastest woman to ever have done so, her achievement was remarkable. But how had a young woman from landlocked Derbyshire come to find a new home among the waves? In "Taking on the World" Ellen tells her story, from saving pennies to buy her first boat through sailing round Britain as a teenager, to sailing the Vendee Globe itself. Enthralling and inspiring in equal measure, it shows how courage, passion and determination can overcome all obstacles - and how one young woman made her dreams come true. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0141006978/boathook-21 (Added: Fri Nov 28 2003 Hits: 6 Rating: 0.00 Votes: 0)
